How working out helps improve anxiety
Exercise alleviates the symptoms of anxiety and is a proactive way to release any pent-up tensions and reduce feelings of fear and worry.
By engaging in exercise it diverts you from the very thing you are anxious about. Through moving your body it decreases any muscle tension, lowering the body’s contribution to feeling anxious. Movement also increases your heart rate which changes brain chemistry in increasing the availability of important anti-anxiety neurochemicals which include serotonin. Serotonin is the key hormone that stabilizes our mood, feelings of well-being and happiness. It is this very hormone that impacts your entire body and provides a buffer against stress.
Think of exercise as meditation in motion that will allow you to alleviate daily stresses whilst also becoming healthier and feeling more confident.
